NY Daily News: American Sniper

I feel inclined to disassociate myself with leftist political agendas as quickly as possible, but recently I feel as though this country has regressed in free thought to somewhere the around Iraqi invasion.  Since when has having a difference in opinion from main stream war narratives "unpatriotic."  If this is considered widely as unpatriotic then perhaps its time to reconsider what is patriotic.  In recent months, the late Chris Kyle has been venerated into some kind of modern day "national saint."  Those who have questioned the war in Iraq or the acts of uniformed troops now have a martyr to answer to in which neo-cons prop up to that affect.  To have a bad opinion about that war seems to equate with having a bad opinion about the troops that were sent there at the benefit of profiteers.  Since these profiteers hide behind the dead bodies of our peers, they do not see their just criticism.
In a further attempt to qualify my opinion, I do declare that I am a veteran.  I did enlist after 11SEP2001.  I am not a rich Hollywood actor or a self perpetuating leftist "intellectual."
Turning Chris Kyle into a hero denies the fact that he was a man.  And, in no way did Clint Eastwood try to do so in his film "American Sniper."  The overwhelming public opinion in favor of a war that I thought we have all renounced is no accident.
